ODE FOCUS! on Social Studies
Now available on the Ohio Social Studies Resource Center (OSSRC) website are eight instructional activities, with aligned primary sources for use in grades 3-8 classrooms. FOCUS! Is a collaborative project between the Ohio Department of Education Office of Curriculum and Instruction and the Ohio Historical Society. The FOCUS! resource activities will engage students in analyzing primary sources; aide teachers to implement hands-on activities aligned to Ohios Social Studies Academic Content Standards; allow learners access to maps, photographs, journal entries, and more, from the OHS archives; develop student understanding of history from multiple perspectives; and offer lessons that challenge students to act as historians.
